The Audubon Parkway was about ready to re-open when some yahoo decided to swing over to the newly poured concrete and gun it.

Now, repairs have to be made and done quickly. Thus, a contractor working on the Audubon Parkway Rehabilitation Project plans to close all the ramps from US 60 to the Audubon Parkway westbound lanes at Owensboro Wednesday night starting at starting at 10:00 p.m.

According to Keith Todd at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, "This closure of all ramps from US 60/Wendell Ford Expressway to the Audubon will last for approximately 24 hours to allow repairs to ramp connecting points with
US 60 and the main lanes of the Audubon Parkway."

24 hours! Yikes.

You can detour on to KY 56 and KY 1554 during this ramp closure.  Starting Thursday night - if not before - one of the ramps will reopen to allow access from US 60 to the
Audubon. The westbound US 60 on-ramp will open to allow access to the Audubon.  However, the eastbound US 60 on-ramp will remain closed for nine days so that the contractor can finish repairs on it.

The contractor will also have to rework several sections of newly poured
concrete along the main line of the Audubon Parkway because of the infraction mentioned above.

It was Monday afternoon when a motorist drove around traffic barricades and barrels and plowed through the work area. Thanks a lot!

The vehicle left tracks in the new concrete that could not be removed before the concrete set up.   Those sections will have to be ripped out and replaced.  Police have indicated the motorist will be facing a number of charges.
