I have never been to Yellowstone National Park, but my family has (prior to my birth). On that trip, a smallish black bear came up to the family car while my dad was changing a flat tire. While it was unnerving, Dad ignored the bear and the bear went away. He followed the rules.

A ranger Dad spoke to later told him that you should never feed the bears or engage them in any way.

Done.

Flash forward to 2012 and we have a group of tourists at Yellowstone who encountered a wandering bison. And, apparently, they did NOT follow the rules. In fact, according to the park's wildlife regulations, they may well have broken the law.

And one of the kids in the group could've gotten himself killed. How intelligent do you have to be to understand that you should NOT agitate and animal that ways 2000 more pounds than you?
