The 35th Annual Farm City Breakfast is Saturday, February 22nd at 7:30 am at Apollo High School. The breakfast will feature US Congressman Brett Guthrie with a short synopsis on the 2014 Farm Bill, as well as a panel to discuss the farm bill and its distribution for food and nutrition in our community. Also, the Farm City Humanitarian Award will be presented at the breakfast, hosted by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and the Daviess County Farm Bureau.

“The 2014 Farm Bill was the most recent federal legislation that has far reaching effects in our community. We want to understand more about it, especially since nearly 80 percent of the farm bill is for food and nutrition programs. We are honored to have Congressman Guthrie with us, as well as learn from local experts. It should be a great event of fellowship and learning,” said Darrell Higginbotham, 2014 Chairman of the Board and President of Independence Bank.

Billed as the best breakfast in Daviess County, the menu features bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, cinnamon rolls, milk, orange juice and more provided by local distributors and Apollo High School. Tickets to the breakfast are $6 and can be purchased at the Chamber at 200 East 3rd Street, the Farm Bureau office at 3329 Wathens Crossing, or online HERE. The breakfast is sponsored by area farmers and local businesses, and is intended to bring together the rural and city community for a common event.
