George Jones and others this weekend on WBKR's Blast from the Past Weekend presented by Terry's Tees. It all gets underway Friday at 2 p.m. and rolls through Monday at 7! Among those you'll be hearing, of course, the late George Jones whose passing last month was featured many times on wbkr.com. You'll hear lots of George, Conway, Randy and more.  Woo-woo!  My friend Keith Bilbrey, with whom I worked at WSM in Nashville in the late 80's, knew George quite well. In a recent issue of the Franklin Life, a Franklin and Brentwood, TN. newspaper, Keith speaks extensively about George and shares some fascinating memories about George and Nancy, too.

One of George's favorite singers was Randy Travis, pictured below with George and Keith, because he was a singer in the country "traditional" style.

Keith was at a birthday party for George. Alan Jackson was there and was asked to sing  to George. Keith said Alan was so nervous just singing to George Jones, even if it was "Happy Birthday"  Here is Keith's photo of that threesome.

Keith and I had a great time working at WSM. Those call letters mean so much to a country deejay.  Good ol' Keith, he even got to be an Opry announcer.  I am sure if you asked Keith to be a Facebook friend, he'd accept you. He is just that kind of fella.
