I remember the first time I ever tried an Ale-8-One.  I honestly had never heard of it until I attended college at Kentucky Wesleyan.  One of my fraternity brothers, Brian Beck, LOVED it!  And he always a had a supply of it in his dorm room.  He was basically an Ale 8 hoarder. See, Brian was from Winchester, Kentucky, where Ale-8-One is bottled.  And I remember some friends of mine and I heading up to Winchester to spend the weekend at his house.  There were two highlights that weekend: his mother's homemade pasta sauce (which was so insanely good that I still remember it 25 years later) and our drive-by of Ale-8-One. All I can say about Ale 8 is that it packs quite a punch and it's made Mental Floss' list of The Top Regional Soft Drinks!

Ale-8-One has been bottled in Winchester since way back in 1926 and it's hard to find outside the Commonwealth.  Mental Floss did some research about the product and included some fun facts about the soft drink in its list.  To find out how Ale-8-One got its name and read about the other soft drinks featured on Mental Floss, CLICK HERE!
