I always like to spotlight the achievements of local students. One of the great events coming up that showcases the academic achievements is the Governor’s Cup. Local academic teams are getting ready for 2013 District Governor’s Cup competitions. Those will be held at four sites around the region.

Teams from East View, Meadow Lands, North Hancock, and South Hancock elementary schools will meet at Eastview Elementary. Burns, Southern Oaks, West Louisville, and Calhoun will compete against host team Livermore Elementary. Tamarack, Audubon, Owensboro Catholic 4-6 Campus, and Owensboro Middle School 5/6 Center will compete at Tamarack Elementary. Country Heights, Deer Park, Highland, and Whitesville elementary will compete against host St. Mary of the Woods.

The first round, consisting of composition and Future Problem Solving, will begin at the host sites at 3:15pm on February 26. The second round, Quick Recall and written assessments, will begin at 9am on March 2nd. The day will conclude at 2pm with the awards program.

District winners will advance to the Regional Governor’s Cup competition, which will be hosted at the Owensboro 4-6 Center on March 23rd.
