My buddy Ricky Evans is one of the biggest NASCAR fans I know.  And he just wasn't happy at all with the 2014 Sprint Cup season.  Sunday, of course, marked the season finale at Homestead Miami and Ricky was on Facebook before the race sharing his opinions about this year's Chase changes and how they affected the sport.  See if you agree.

From Ricky Evans' Facebook page (posted before the season finale):

Well NASCAR, congratulations!! You got what you wanted, a star-packed finale that everyone is interested in, NOT!!!!!! Your "playoffs" have turned into a joke (like most things you have done since Brian France took over).  What would be a perfect finish is, and I apologize to these drivers and their fans ahead of time, is if there were a wreck about 5 laps into the race and it collects all 4 of the "contenders", tears their cars up very bad, then the announcers would have all race to talk about who could get there car fixed and back out on the track the quickest. I can hear the final call going something like this. "And with one lap to go Kevin Harvick limps out of the pits just in time to get one lap more than the other drivers and he wins the sprint cup, what a fitting end to a great season of racing (sarcasm), and the champion had to only drive six laps to win his first title!!!!" Give me a break!!!!

Guess I just liked it a long time ago, back when the elder France ran what was then the fastest growing spectator sport, not the empty-stand convenient caution show they have every week now.  Ever since little Brian has taken over all he has done is alienate the life-long fans.

As you know, Kevin Harvick won yesterday's season finale and took home the Sprint Cup Championship.  I know Roxianne our Receptionist was pumped. And our very own Barb Birgy was thrilled.  She's a huge NASCAR fan and her late father was totally Team Harvick.  For Barb, the season was perfect in many ways.

But what do YOU think?  Were the new rules for the Chase the right way to race?  Was Kevin Harvick really the best driver of the season and did he deserve the Sprint Cup Championship?
