It's that time again for Ask Jac: Session 2. This is a (fairly) new thing I'm doing by taking questions from you fine listeners and answering with advice.

Obviously, I'm not a professional therapist, but I hope that maybe I can offer you a new perspective on what's going on and maybe even help out a little bit!

Hi, my daughter is 8 years-old and I'm worried because she acts like a boy. Should I make her wear skirts and girly clothes?

This is so tough, because I know that if this were me, I would be a little upset too. We all know exactly what we want our children to be, how we want them to act, etc. But, we sometimes forget one main thing...they are individuals and as much as we hate it sometimes, we have to let them learn and grow into who they are. I'm sure that you would love to see her in dresses and ribbons (that's what I have pictured too!), but she may feel just fine in shorts and a tshirt.

Maybe your best bet is to allow her to explore who she is. Maybe if you don't make a big deal about it, she'll change the way she feels too.  You can still teach her how to act like a lady while being comfortable in her own skin...or clothes.

I've been dating a woman for about three months. I've told her that I love her and I want to spend forever with her. She seems okay with the attention, but my friends tell me I'm moving too fast and look desperate. Should I back off or give my special lady the treatment she deserves?

Well, I think that by you just asking me for my opinion that you maybe agree with your friends. (Not on the desperate part, that's such a hurtful word.) There's nothing wrong with having such strong feelings about someone new, butttttt three months does seem a little soon for forever. Now, having said that, only you and your "special lady" can decide what's right for your relationship. You said that she "seems okay with the attention". I would feel better about it if you said she assures you that she feels the same way. As long as you two are on the same page and communicate about your feelings, you should figure it out.

Plus, you can always give her the treatment she deserves....three months into it or not!

I need a good menu for my friend's upcoming bridal shower. What should I serve?

Now, if there's one thing I know about, it's throwing a shower! I absolutely LOVE hosting showers for friends and family and hope some of these ideas can help you out!

When I host a bridal/baby shower, I like to ask the guest of honor what some of her/their favorites are. I like to tie in at least one of their favorites into the menu. Like when I threw my sister-in-law Maggie's bridal shower, I knew that she loved Pizza Rolls. Now, normally, it would be a cold day in you-know-where before I put a pizza roll onto my Mariposa serving pieces, but knowing that it was her favorite...they were served!

Here are a few items that I almost always have on display...

Some type of heavier appetizer. My mother-in-law makes a great tenderloin sandwich that is perfect for showers! She puts a small piece onto a small dinner roll, yummy!

Dips are always a great idea! SO easy and they are easy to eat.

My friend Tracy West hosted a Kelly's Kids party for me and she made an easy, delicious strawberry treat! Take cinamin peta chips and spread them out on a platter. Then, cut up strawberries into bite size pieces and toss them with sugar. Put the strawberries on the chips, then drizzle white or regular chocolate over them. I could not stop eating this...ok, no one's shocked! Ha!

Katie and Momma Beste's Pickle Roll-ups (Don't knock it!) Katie was at my house before a show and needed to make an appetizer for a shower the next day. This is SO easy and I was shocked at how good they were! Get whole dill pickels, wash them and let them dry. Then, get the long slices of ham, spread cream cheese on the ham and wrap the (dry) pickle up. Put these in the fridge to set for a while. Cut off the ends of the pickles (honestly, because they just don't look good!) then cut the pickels wrapped in ham into small pieces and serve on a platter.

I always, of course, have some type of cake. Cupcakes are an easy way to decorate the table too if you'd like to go that route! ( I like to have the table very visually symetricle normally with the cake/cupcakes in the middle on a stand.)

Fruit pizza (It's delicious first of all, but I like it because it's very pretty and adds lots of color to the table!) Roll out sugar cookie dough on the bottom, bake then cool. Mix a package of cream cheese, 1 tub Cool Whip, 1/3 cup sugar. Spread over cookie. Arrange fresh fruit (in a cute pattern, of course!) on top. I use strawberries, kiwi, mandarin oranges, blueberries....any fruit really. Drizzle melted white chocolate over the top!

I also have a seperate drink table with at least water, some sort of fruit tea and a few soft drinks. It's a nice touch to have pictures of the guest of honor and the invitation to the shower on the table and gift area.

See, I told y'all... I love this stuff!
