He joined the WBKR Waking Crew six years ago and, since that time, has been nominated for an Academy of Country Music Award, won a second runner-up Radio and Production Award, and has guest announced on the stage at The Grand Ole Opry . . . three times!Chad is a frequent visitor backstage at the Opry and broadcasts live from there on a regular basis. Chad’s involvement in country music extends beyond working in radio.Chad is a singer/songwriter and has performed in venues from Kentucky to California. He, along with his songwriting partner DJ Potter, have composed three original songs (“Saints and Angels,” “Soar," and "There's Another Star in the Sky") for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They also composed each track on Jaclyn Graves’ debut CD “Tailgater!” In addition to working as a member of The Waking Crew, Chad also serves as WBKR’s promotion director. He is very involved in community events and charity organizations. He serves as the chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, is an active member of the board of the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics KY and has an instrumental role in the WBKR/WOMI Telecom Pioneers Christmas Wish program. As a matter of fact, he serves as the station’s liaison in that annual endeavor. Chad is also very involved with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and works annually on fundraisers for the March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Heart Association and ACS’ Making Strides event. Chad came to radio from the world of theatre. Before joining WBKR, Chad worked at a youth performing arts group in San Diego, California. He is a produced playwright on both coasts and remains involved in arts education in school systems around the tri-state. When he’s not working, Chad plays softball, tennis and is a slave to trash television! He also still manages to take the stage and perform from time to time. His impersonations of Elton John, Joan Rivers, Richard Simmons and Donkey from “Shrek” are legendary! And, last year at the Lanham Brothers Jamboree, he unveiled his very own take on "The Evolution of Dance." In fact, Chad promises to roll that out again in 2012!

Shoulda Been a Hit: Martina McBride “This Uncivil War” [Video]

Typically when I choose a song for my Shoulda Been a Hit column, I pick a song that actually had a chance at becoming one.  But, for the first time in the history of this feature, I am choosing a song that was never officially released as a single.  Martina McBride churned 4 big hits off her 1999 release Emotion.  The lead-off single "I Love You" reached #1 on the Billboard Country Chart.  It was a HUGE hit.  So was the follow-up, "Love's the Only House," which peaked at #3.  "There You Are" reached the 10 spot and "It's My Time" peaked at #11.  But, if you ask me, Emotion contained a little hidden gem that had all the makings of a McBride chartbuster.   LISTEN!
