Chadwick Benefield

Chad here! After 11 years of being one half of The WBKR Waking Crew and The CB Radio Show, I am now one half of the all-new Morning Drive on 92.5 with Chad & Angel. Our show runs 6a-10am CST Monday through Friday and I also co-host The BKR's Dozen Countdown with Dave Spencer each Saturday morning at 8am. In addition to flapping my lips on the air, I emcee a variety of events all over the state of Kentucky. I emcee charity functions, beauty pageants and dance competitions. I love country music. In fact, I love all kids of music. I listen to everything from Brett Young to Ed Sheeran; Kelly Clarkson to Chris Young. Kings of Leon to King George! I love sports (particularly tennis and the Olympics), reality television and traveling. When I am not working I am likely on the sectional watching The Walking Dead, America's Got Talent, Project Runway, Alone, RuPaul's Drag Race and pretty much anything on The Tennis Channel or ESPN. I vacation . . . a lot! I love Mexico, any place I can get to on a cruise ship and New York City. I live in Owensboro with Kevin and three rescued Bichon Frises (Dolly, Ellie and Yogi).

Have You Ever Heard of Subtle Butt Disposable Gas Neutralizers? [Video]

I am going to make a confession today.  Some of you will immediately relate to it.  Some of you will try to pretend like it's never happened to you (and you're lying).  Others will laugh hysterically because you'll recall that one time when you did it and how you got busted and how mortifying it was. A few of you will claim this conversation is "TMI."  But it's biology.  And, as the old adage, suggests . . . IT HAPPENS!  And it happened to me in Mexico.  And, lo and behold, I later learned there's a possible remedy.

Miss Daviess County Pageant Crowns First Ever African-American Winner

My friend Angela Oliver lives here in Owensboro.  She actually moved here from Atlanta a few years back to write for the Messenger-Inquirer.  She's strikingly beautiful, charming, smart, sweet, funny and black.  I tell you she's black not because it matters to me.  I tell you that detail because, in the context of this story, it's the most important one.  Because she's black, Angela has never really felt at home here.  She and I have discussed this on several occasions and she has shared stories with me that leave my mouth open.  Angela routinely chronicles her experiences in a Facebook blog called "The Adventures of a Black Journalist in a Predominately White Town."   And, honestly, I think some you would be surprised and horrified at some of the things that people say to her.  They aren't overtly racist in their vocabulary and approach, but they have subtle, sometimes artful ways of reminding Angela that she's different and doesn't really belong here.  But something happened over the weekend, something subtle, that signaled a possible change in the tide.  This predominately white town crowned its first African-American Miss Daviess County.

Yogi the Bichon Gets Spooked by a Mannequin Head [Video]

Yogi barks at everything!  He acts like a tough guy anytime he hears the neighbors' dogs or any other sound outside.  I mean, he goes from prissy and fluffy Bichon Frise to angry, rabid Doberman in a second. Well, let me tell you.  It's clearly all an act.  We have found Yogi's Kryptonite. The other night, Kevin had one of his mannequin heads out and Yogi absolutely lost his crap.  He was terrified of that thing and wouldn't go near the thing.  WATCH!

The Top Five Country Songs for the Fourth of July [Video]

Happy Fourth of July!  And to help celebrate, I am sharing my Top Five Country Songs for the Fourth.  Now, we all know that patriotism is a popular theme in country music.  And, because of that, there were a lot of songs I could have chosen for this list.  But I tried my best to narrow the list down to five.  These, for me, are the five songs that I want to hear when I'm celebrating Independence Day.  These songs just scream "America!"  If we were making a movie about the Fourth, these are five songs that would most definitely have to be on the soundtrack!
