I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I began my Country Radio career at KLLL in Lubbock, TX. Some of the places I have lived and played Country music on the radio include Kansas City, Louisville, Nashville and many other ports over the years. I have programmed some legendary stations: WDAF, Kansas City, WHN, New York City; WSM, Nashville and KVOO, Tulsa. None has been as much fun as WBKR right here in Owensboro. I enjoy fine scotch and wine. I love Major League Baseball and my team of choice is the New York Yankees. I exercise regularly at Health Park and listen to my music collection while doing so. My wife, Debra and I watch some Bravo TV shows and from time to time i make her watch an old Sopranos DVD or an episode of Mad Men.

It's all put together by Owensboro-based filmmaker P...
True Detective Features a Moon Favorite
Pictured are Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, stars of the HBO series, "True Detective", a show I watch with regularity, just not on the night it airs. I record it to watch later in the week. Last night, watching the latest episode you may have seen Sunday, I heard a familiar -- yet, to you probably obscure - song...

Don’t Mess With Texas – Where’d That Expression Come From?
I was telling Chad this morning that I was looking at Reddit.com and was surprised the the expression, "Don't Mess with Texas", was unknown to some people as an anti-littering campaign in the Lone Star State. It has become part of pop culture to say that phrase when you are referring to a Texan or when the state of Texas does something most states don't, which happens a lot.

Yankees Spring Training Camp Opens – Moon’s Valentine
What a Valentine! New York Yankees pitchers and catcher report to spring training in Florida today. Palm trees, gulf breezes, sunshine and the sound of bats hitting balls and fists hitting gloves. The casual, light-hearted ways the men-boys play on the silken green grass and tamped sod of the Steinbrenner park, just reinvigorates me here in the middle of February. Pitchers and Catchers report. Thr
The Captain – Yankees Derek Jeter Wraps in 2014
When I was a kid, in the Nineteen fifties, not as long ago as Chad would have you believe, we studied this Walt Whitman poem about the death of Abraham Lincoln.
Oh, Captain, my Captain! Our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won...

Brett is Vanilla Ice – Well He Plays An Ice Guitar
WOMI Morning host, young Brett Wharff, found an interesting icicle in the parking lot this morning. It certainly looks like a guitar. And, in Brett's head it sounds like a guitar. To me, he looks like Les Paul, to Brett, he's John Mayer...
Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss Concert Companions
Chad and I agreed this morning this is an odd concert combo - Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss and Union Station. But, it's true. They are doing a ton of shows together this spring and summer and it starts in Murray May 1. Exciting new artist Kacey Musgraves will be on some of the shows, unfortunately not the Murray nor Louisville shows...
