WBKR Radio
In 1994 when Garth Brooks was 32 years old, WBKR was doing a Garth-a-thon to bring Garth Brooks in concert and it payed off big time! Garth scheduled 3 shows at Roberts Stadium February of 1994.
The three shows sold out in one hour and 22 minutes, I was lucky enough to see Garth in concert back then and to this day it's one of the best concerts I have ever seen!
Happy Birthday Garth!
Valentine's Day is coming up and guys if you want to score some big points with your significant other, make them a CD filled with love songs that they like, I did that for my wife couple years ago yes I know I'm very sweet! I think they appreciate it when we try to do something more instead of giving them the same old stuff on Valentine's Day.
I think information of past technology is pretty cool to look back on and see how far we have come, by the year 2000 there was still 2 million pay phones in America, by 2007 & 2008 pay phones declined 58% and was removed from restaurants, retail & other public places.
I think the kids of today should appreciate the technology we have today, like huge flat screen t.v.'s with High Definition quality, when I was a kid the family t.v. was a black & white 19 inch t.v. most of my drinking water came from a well, not bottled water. We had a yellow rotary home phone, I could go on & on. But as I sit here on my laptop watching my satellite t.v. with a remote control in my hand I am very thankful for what I have lived through and what I have today.
I for one who plays the guitar myself can appreciate the stars of the past & present who can play anything on their guitar. One of the best guitar players of all time was 'Mr. Guitar' Chet Atkins who we lost in 2001 at the age of 77. It takes a very special talent to pick up a musical instrument and play it the way he did!
I'm sure Chet would be proud if he heard the way folks like Brad Pailsey, Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Lee Roy Parnell, Steve Wariner & so many more who can burn up those strings just the way Chet did. Check out my video's and see the late great Chet Atkins in action!
When I was a kid I remember the phrase 'They're Greeeeat' from Tony the Tiger promoting Frosted Flakes cereal, who can forget 'Snap, Crackle, Pop' the 3 little Rice Crispie guys. 'Silly Rabbit Trix are for Kids' for Trix cereal, 'I'm Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs' from Sonny the Cuckoo bird.
So many great characters, so many great food choices! Take my POLL and tell me your favorite character?
As a new home owner I plan on putting back a few dollars on my house payment & other bills as we roll into 2012! Also a good idea to maybe stock up on water & toilet paper, can you ever have enough on those two key items? LOL
Probably will also get the kids some new clothes, maybe a few toys and my wife and I might go out to eat if anything is left. I woul
I was watching "Back to the Future" this past weekend and I was telling my wife that I like three movies in that series of movies! I also like all the "Naked Gun" movies, "Grumpy Old Men" and "Grumpier Old Men," "Home Alone" & "Home Alone 2 Lost In New York" didn't care much for part three of that series. But anyway it's hard to top the original, but sometimes the sequels work!
What movie sequels do you like or dislike?
102 years ago we lost a great man his name was Thomas Crapper, that was his real name to I'm not kidding! I had to ask people myself if that was true. Anyway Crapper was an engineer who is credited with the invention of the flushing toilet and also adding the word crap to the English language
I'm giving you yet another tough assignment, we want to know who is your favorite cowboy hat wearing country star you like the most? Yes it's true there is a lot of them but I have narrowed your choices down.
Take our WBKR Poll and VOTE on your favorite now!
I've watched the CMA Award show for as long as I can remember and over the years there have been some great performances and not so great performances by many country stars! Unfortunately some of those great stars are no longer with us but their songs will live on forever.
Don't forget to take our poll here, I have made it tough on you so good luck and be sure to visit our WBKR Facebook page and comment there too!
I love it when I go to a concert and the artist gives the band a break and pulls out their guitar, it's just them and the microphone. I put a little survey together of my very own, check out these video's and choose your favorite and vote on which one you like best?!?
