Hard to believe summer break is almost over and it's time for the kids to head back to school for the 2012 -2013 school year. I had a son graduate high school earlier this year and I still have kids in elementary school.
Let me start by saying this is one of the hardest things I've ever tried to do - I've been a smokeless tobacco chewer for 20 plus years. I recently got strep throat and it kind of scared me into thinking it could be something worse one of these days - like throat cancer!
Kitty Wells passed away this afternoon at her home from complications from a stroke. Her recording of "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky-Tonk Angels" in 1952 was the first No. 1 hit by a woman soloist on the country music charts. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1991. She also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. R.I.P Kitty Wells.
Hospitals, convenient stores, doctor's offices, truck drivers - you name it - they listen to WBKR while they work, and we really appreciate it! I was in a local business in Owensboro just the other day and heard our station playing while everyone shopped - that was too cool!
I remember seeing Loretta Lynn doing a Crisco commercial in the 1980's while watching TNN - The Nashville Network as a kid. I know the ladies remember George Strait in Wrangler Jeans commercials. Recently in 2011, Jason Aldean also did some promoting for Wrangler Jeans, and Taylor Swift as a Cover Girl!

Join your host Malcolm West along with Donna Cooper and Richard Cunningham - with Steve Earnhardt Jr. Horn (lol) running the controls from Show-Me's - for another edition of "Racetalk" live. It is happening tonight & every Tuesday night from Show-Me's in Owensboro's Towne Square Mall.
I have a 39-inch HDTV that I paid about $700 for – and it about bankrupted me.
Do you love your TV enough to pay $10,999.99 for it?
That's what you're going to pay if you buy the world's largest HDTV by Sharp. This thing is 90 inches and totally loaded complete with 3D capability – plus it comes with 3D glasses and built in WiFi! You can mount this big boy on the wall because it is only 5 inches thick.
So start saving your $$$ if you want to buy this huge 90 inch HDTV!
WBKR friends - I need your help! I figured since I am in radio (and you can't see me) that it would be ok for me to get a tattoo. I turn 40 on July 11th and have always wanted a tattoo, but I’m not 100% sure.
I have been at WBKR since 1989 - maybe I should get WBKR tattooed on me? Lol
