In an effort to move things along quickly as fans flock to their favorite team's stadium for preseason, eventually regular season, and hopefully playoff action, the NFL has implemented a new "bag policy" outlining the types of carrying cases fans can and more importantly, can't bring into the game.

While they prefer, and strongly encourage, fans not to bring any type of bag into the stadium, the league understands there are some items that either don't fit in pockets, or fans would prefer other people not know they have (certain hygiene products for example).

Before we get into what's okay, and what's not okay, you should know there are no restrictions on what you can fit in your pockets (outside of weapons, of course, you still can't bring those in). If all you carry is a wallet, keys, and a phone like I do, then you're good to go. You'll step up, get your pat down from security, and be on your way.

Obviously, that's not the case for everyone. Having done my fair share of laundry, I know that for whatever reason manufacturers like to make pockets on women's pants so small you can barely fit your hands into them, much less fill them with any type of personal items.

Here's what you can use:

  • A 12-inch tall, six-inch wide, 12-inch deep clear bag made of plastic, PVC, or vinyl.
  • Clear zip lock freezer bag, no bigger than one gallon sized
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.

Here's what you CAN'T bring in:

  • Purses larger than a clutch bag
  • Coolers
  • Briefcases
  • Backpacks
  • Fanny packs
  • Cinch bags
  • Seat cushions
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Computer bags
  • Camera bags
  • Any bag larger than the permissible size

Diaper bags are also prohibited, so if you're bringing your baby or toddler to a game (which in my opinion, if you want to enjoy the game — don't), you'll need to stuff all diapers, wipes, rash creams, etc. in one of the aforementioned approved bags.

As with any rule, there is an exception. Fans that require medical equipment such as wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, diabetes supplies, and things of the like will be allowed to bring those into the stadium after proper inspection by stadium personnel at a predetermined gate.
