Darius Rucker is undoubtedly the second most successful African-American artist in country music. Formerly the lead singer of the Hootie and the Blowfish rock group, Darius left the group in 2002 to be a solo artist. His one true love was country music and in 2008 his dream came true when Capitol Records gave him a shot at entering the field.

“Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”  went to #1 that year, the first #1 by a black country singer for 25 years when Charley Pride had his last chart topper.

Darius says he has not officially broken up with the Hootie and the Blowfish and that they will record again someday. Meanwhile he continues to roll out a bunch of country hit songs and we hope he will for a long time.
