Brantley Gilbert is very, very popular in the WBKR listening audience. We get requests for all his tunes constantly. His recent concert at the Ford Center was very close to being a sold out show.

And, now car racing fans and Brantley Gilbert fans can get even more excited. When I lived and worked in Nashville I knew Scott Borcetta, the owner of the label Brantley records for. Way back then Scott was a long-haired promoter of country records. He was also a race car fan, even driving one himself at local tracks.

As soon as I saw this story I thought Scott was behind it and sure enough he is.

Scott has arranged for Brantley to sponsor rookie driver Sage Karam's car along with Comfort Revolution. Brantley's mug will be plastered all over the neon yellow No. 22 Dreyer & Reinbold Kingdom Racing Chevrolet at the 98th Indy 500 on May 25. And, shameless promotion here you can hear the race on WBKR!

Scott's label, Big Machine Label Group, was a secondary sponsor of two recent winning cars: Dan Wheldon's in 2011 and Dario Franchitti's in 2012, according to Indy Star.

In addition to making the rounds on the race track, Gilbert will also be busy promoting his new album, 'Just As I Am,' which streets May 19. From Taste of Country here's more.
