Brescia Adding eSports, Competitive Dance and Cheer to Athletic Program This Fall
It was inevitable; the day competitive video gaming would be considered a school sport. It's becoming a reality this fall at Brescia University along with competitive cheer and dance also being added to the school's athletic program.
eSports is a form of competitive gaming and Brescia will be one of two private schools in Kentucky, University of Pikeville being the other, that will offer eSports as a varsity sport. Although eSports is not formally recognized by the NAIA, it will be supporting the program and providing eligibility requirements. Brescia will also offer scholarships to talented League of Legends players as the program develops. Students representing Brescia will compete against NCAA Division I schools at the varsity level in competitive matches.
In addition to eSports, Brescia is adding competitive cheer and dance as one of only two independent schools in Kentucky that offer scholarships for the sport.
Recruitment from both programs are currently taking place and students interested should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1-877-BRESCIA.
