San Bernardino, California's been through enough. The last thing that struggling city needs is a group of burglars ripping off one of its most valuable charitable organizations.

But that's just what happened to San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services. Last week, thieves broke into the facility and stole six computer towers and a laptop, according to executive director Candy Stallings.

Still devastated by the discovery, Stallings told CNN how vitally important those computers are to the work that her organization does.

Well, every cloud has a silver lining. And here's the one for Ms. Stallings and San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services:

The next night, the burglars came back and returned everything they had stolen. They even left an apology note. It seems they realized who they'd pilfered, felt bad about it, and brought all the stolen merchandise back.

I've heard of a "hooker with a heart of gold."  Now we have "burglars with big hearts."

Of course, there's still the matter of the damage they caused when they broke into the building.

It'll be interesting to see how the judge deals with these guys.
