She reigned as America's sweetheart during the 60's and 70's. Mary Tyler Moore, first as co-star of the Dick Van Dyke Show and then as Mary Richards, the darling of CBS Saturday nights from 1970 - 1976. The show had top ratings and won a bushel basket of Emmys.

The show and its spin-off Rhoda were produced by Mary and her husband, Grant Tinker, as part of their MTM Enterprises.

And, I came in contact with MTM Enterprises when they founded MTM Records, in its day a pretty successful music label. Holly Dunn, Judy Rodman and others had hits on the imprint. It is defunct now.

Tomorrow morning is the birthday of the man George Jones proclaimed country’s best songwriter. I’ll have the audio of George saying exactly that. George is referring to Bobby Braddock and we will salute him on Saturday at the Memories between 6 and 8am.

Bobby, pictured above with his daughter Lauren, inducted into the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1981, Bobby received the ultimate honor last year when he joined the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Moon here. I just adore Doris Day. She is 88 years old today and has had a terrific life. Sure, she's had her share of tragedies, but has persevered and advocated for many a helpless animal. Still active, too, with a new CD and DVD available at her website. Early in life she wanted to be a dancer. When a car accident injured her legs so much she had no chance to dance professionally she found she had another talent -- singing. Recuperating from the injuries and listening to the radio, she sang along with Ella Fitzgerald and found she could emulate the phrasing and rhythm. I think Doris Day has one of the best voices ever. This You Tube tribute not only shows her singing ability but also her beauty over the years.

In 1994 when Garth Brooks was 32 years old, WBKR was doing a Garth-a-thon to bring Garth Brooks in concert and it payed off big time! Garth scheduled 3 shows at Roberts Stadium February of 1994.

The three shows sold out in one hour and 22 minutes, I was lucky enough to see Garth in concert back then and to this day it's one of the best concerts I have ever seen!

If you tune into The WBKR Waking Crew, you know that Jimmy Parrot sometimes calls into the show and pretends to be 14 WFIE news anchor, Ann Komis!
