Puzzle Pieces is a non-profit organization in the process of opening a one-of-a-kind activity day center facility serving individuals eight years and up with intellectual disabilities in Owensboro, Kentucky. Puzzle Pieces will offer structured active day programs which will promote social interaction, vocational skills, sensory integration, independent living, life skills, and life-long learning opportunities.

A few months ago we told you about a group of students from Western Kentucky University, Bike 4 Alz, planning to bike across the country in hopes of raising $175,000 for Alzheimer's research. Well, theyare about 1,000 miles into their journey and made a stop here in Owensboro.

They stopped by the studio this afternoon and I really enjoyed their visit. They are SO much fun and I hope that they not only meet, but exceed their goal!

They will be making several appearances in town today and tomorrow starting with Friday After Five tonight downtown. They even have two hometown boys on the team.

The 15th annual TREK to benefit the St. Joseph's Peace Mission for Children took place yesterday.  Each year, the event kicks off at First Security Bank on the river in Calhoun and wraps up on HWY 56 at David Yewell's home.  David started this TREK 15 years ago and it has grown into an impressive annual tradition and fundraiser.  TREK is a challenging but exhilirating 13-mile bike, walk and run and participants of all ages tackle the course.  Yesterday, I encountered a local Girl Scout troop biking along for a great cause and I even managed to hitch (okay, steal!) a ride on a bike.  Check it out!
