May 3, 2012 The Alma Randolph Charitable Foundation Dinner is Tuesday, May 8th at 6:30pm. This years dinner is set to be held at The Hines Center.
This years event is sports themed with several regional sports figures scheduled to be in attendance. WKU Men's Basketball Coach Ray Harper, KWC Men's Basketball Coach Todd Lee and Former MLB Brad Wilkerson are just a few scheduled to attend.
In October of last year, six-year-old Lydia Haycraft was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Since her diagnosis, Lydia's family, friends, and community have rallied around her as she faces some tough months ahead of chemotherapy.
One fundraiser for Lydia is "Get Fit For Lydia" going on now at First Baptist Church in Owensboro. It's a co-ed boot camp for any fitness level and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward Lydia's fight against cancer.

April 23, 2012 WBKR has lost one of its founding fathers. We received news this morning that Douglas Hamby, who served as General Manager of WOMI and helped create WBKR-FM, passed away Sunday at Owensboro Medical Health System. Not only was Douglas a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was a leader in the field of broadcasting and all of us here at WBKR owe our careers, at least in some part, to him.

On March 2, a powerful EF-4 tornado ripped through Henryville, Indiana, killing at least 3 people and the storm severely damaged Henryville Elementary and Henryville Jr/Sr High School. Lady Antebellum held a contest offering a high school the chance at a private concert (Own the Prom) by the group. After hearing the story of Henryville, the group decided to award the students the private show, after neighboring Silver Creek High School submitted the winning video:
