Tonight is going to be an awesome night in Whitesville. We are going to be Raisin' 4 Rollie! Our buddy Rollie Pike is battling a rare disorder that attacks his vital organs and he is in desperate need of a kidney transplant . . . a transplant that WILL happen in June, thanks to the fact that a first cousin of his has just been confirmed a donor match! This is tremendous news for all of Rollie's family and friends and we are getting together to celebrate and raise money for this guy who would truly do anything for anyone.

You can't haze people in college. But we can sure do it here at WBKR! And that's exactly what Jaclyn and I did to our brand new intern, Jordan Roos, a senior at Brescia University. His first day on the job was last Friday, which just so happened to be the first day of the International Bar-B-Q Festival here in Owensboro. Naturally, we invited Jordan along for a crash course in live, on-location broadcasting. Well, watch what happened when we passed Paula Martin's Paintopia booth. She was painting faces and we knew we had the perfect 6'4" blank canvas for her!
You can find him in the swamps and ponds pulling out snapping turtles and entertaining fans for all ages. And, this weekend, you can find him at the International Bar-B-Q Festival in Owensboro. Yep! Animal Planet star Turtle Man is coming to town And here at WBKR,com, we have all the scoop about when and where you can see and meet him!
This is going to be a big weekend for food in Owensboro-Daviess County. Friday and Saturday mark the International BBQ Festival downtown and thousands upon thousands of people (including this one) are going to be stuffing their faces with mutton, pork, chicken, funnel cakes and more. But, Saturday morning, we are asking you to help those who just aren't as fortunate. Hunger is a serious problem worldwide, but also right here in the tristate. That's why Campbell Soup Company and the National Association of Letter Carriers are again teaming up for the Stamp Out Hunger Campaign. This is the 21st year for the movement and you can help simply by placing a bag of food by your mailbox before your mail carrier arrives Saturday. Here are the official details on how you can help. It's quick and painless, but VERY rewarding!
You want country? You got it! You want pop? You got it! You want to laugh? No problem. The 2013 Kentucky State Fair has it all!
