August 2, 2011 I was recently contacted by WBKR listener Pat McKinney who told me her grandson is in a new Dolly Parton video for “Together You and I”. Wow. He is 5 year-old Dalton Robingson. In March Dalton was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma.
July 26, 2011 February is one my favorite times of the year here at WBKR. That's when we get to rally your support to help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. For 26 hours over two days, we ask the tri-state to join us in the fight against childhood cancer. We introduce you various families who have had to hear those words, "Your child has cancer." Well, I'm quite sad to report that, last month, Jared Daugherty, a former member of the WBKR family, had to hear those words, "Your child has cancer."
June 28, 2011 Years ago, when working Americans began to rely more and more on some sort of keyboard to complete their work, the term "carpal tunnel syndrome" began to crop up everywhere. Now, it has always existed; it's a wrist ailment that can occur via other activities like painting or sewing. But in the last 20 years, computer usage has become common practice in most any business. And we're all typing more than we ever have before. But wrist issues are no longer our only concern. Yep, the eyes have it.

The Owens family have a precious little girl who already knows the hardship of ill health. Stop in Rural King on Hwy 60 in Owensboro for a cookout to benefit six year old Kennedi Owens. Kennedi suffers from a Chiari malformation of the brain. She has recently undergone a difficult surgery on her brain and is now preparing for spinal surgery in the fall.
June 22, 2011 Sad news arrived this morning as we learned that one of country music's all-time greats, Glen Campbell, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His new album will be released in August and it will be his final recording. Glen is also planning a farewell tour and wanted the news out there so fans wouldn't wonder about unusual behavior they might witness on the stage.
June 21, 2011 I took my Midday Show on the road Tuesday to the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center. It's the summer kick-off blood drive, Pump Up The Volume. And, y'all know me....I just had to get involved! So, of course, I donated blood while I was there...LIVE on the air!!
