Dave Goes Back in Time at Elementary School Reunion

When I pulled up to the former Masonville Elementary School--now Beacon Central High School--it struck me, immediately, how small it seemed. THIS was the cavernous building I walked into for the first time nearly forty years ago?

Titanic Weekend [VIDEO]

This past Saturday marked the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and I was able to attend the Theatre Workshops "Titanic" event that they put on, it was a great time! My wife, Misty and I dressed up like the folks from that time period, we had a nice dinner and got entertained. The drawing my son made for me was on display there as well.

It was an event I was glad to be a part of and one I won't ever forget, hope you enjoy some of the videos I took from the event! By the way I was one of the unfortunate third class passengers that didn't make it, my wife did though.

Chad: I Survived the Titanic!

The biggest film of 1997 is hitting theatres again today.  And this time, Titanic will be shown in 3D.  I wasn't necessarily interested in the seeing the movie again.  I liked it an all the first time, but I don't normally devote 3 hours and 17 minutes to the same thing twice.  But, recently, after visiting Titanic Pigeon Forge, I completely changed my tune.  After boarding the Titanic and experiencing its wonder myself, I can't wait to step into the theatre and relive one of the greatest tragedies of modern times.  Titanic may have hit an iceberg and sunk in the early morning hours of April 15th, 1912, but the ship, her spirit and the memory of her passengers are alive and well.  And, I want to take time to honor one of them here at WBKR.com.  His name is Alfred Pugh.  And, when I visited Titanic a couple of weeks ago, I came to know Alfred very well.

Titanic 3D Sails Into Theaters April 4th [VIDEO]

When Titanic first came out in 1997 my oldest boy was 4 years old and now he's 18 and will be able to take his girlfriend to see it on the big screen. I went to the movie theater two times to watch it back then and when it comes back to the big screen in 2012, I'm sure I'll go see it again probably two more times. Something about the history of  learning about the luxury liner and the story line is captivating.

April 15th, 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of that tragic event. If you get a chance and are fascinated with the history of the Titanic like I am, be sure to check out the Titanic Exhibit in Pigeon Forge, TN.  it was surely something to see! So get ready for Titanic April 4th as it sails into a theater near you in 3D!

St. Jude Radiothon Sparks Long-Forgotten Memories

It was a simple phone call to inform my mom that the Louisville/Cincinnati basketball game was on ESPN--she graduated from U of L in 1954. Just a simple phone call. Then the gears started turning, connections were made, and my mother suddenly remembered an amazing story from her time spent at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 1952 as part of her training curriculum. So she wrote the following essay:
