Burns Middle School Future Problem Solving Team Fundraising Next Week [VIDEO]

Future problem solving, man that takes me back. Well, I was only on one team when I was in 5th grade; hey, I was the only girl! Now, the Burns Middle School 7th/8th Grade Future Problem Solving Team, who finished 2nd in the state of Kentucky, they are heading to compete at the International Conference at Iowa State University in June.Coming up next Monday and Tuesday, two restaurant fundraisers will take place.

The Daviess County Conservation District is giving away FREE trees today. The giveaway lasts until 2:00pm. You can pick up your trees at 3032 Alvey Park Drive off Hwy 54 in Owensboro.

Funeral Services for Hal Miller Today at First Baptist Church

Owensboro icon Hal Miller is being laid to rest today.  Services begin at 11am this morning at First Baptist Church in downtown Owensboro.  And if yesterday's visitation at Glenn Funeral Home is any indication, folks will be lining up in droves to pay their respects to and honor a man who, in many ways, touched us all.  As I was visiting with Hal's daughters Rooster and Karen yesterday,  it occurred to me just how many memories of Windy Hollow I personally carry.  And I know that many of you have memories that are just as fond. I want to share a few of mine.

OPD Searching For Missing Juvenile [PHOTO]

UPDATE: As of 3:33pm Monday, April 7th via the OPD:

Missing juvenile, Carlie Paige Ritter, has been located and is in good health.

The Owensboro Police Department is searching for a missing juvenile and needs your help. Sunday, April 6th, a grandparent of 12 year old Carlie Paige Ritter reported her missing after she walked away from their residence in the 2900 block of Yellowstone Drive earlier that morning. Carlie was last observed wearing a black jacket and black jeans. Detectives continue looking into leads and are asking for the public’s help in locating this juvenile.

Benefit Ride for the Children’s Advocacy of the Green River District

The second annual benefit motorcycle ride for the Children's Advocacy of the Green River District is Saturday, April 19th. The CAC serves children in seven counties including Daviess, McLean, Hancock, Henderson, Ohio, Union and Webster.

The ride will begin at the Owensboro campus of Western Kentucky University. Registration begins at 10:00am and all bikes will be out at Noon.

4 Dead, 16 Injured in Fort Hood Shooting

Four people, including the gunman, were killed and 16 others injured in a shooting at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas Wednesday evening.  Fort Hood officials said the gunman was a soldier who had been receiving mental health treatment and that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
