This Thanksgiving week, November 18th-24th, is Daviess County Stop Red Light Running Awareness Week. With the beginning of the holiday season here, what better time than now to promote awareness of the dangers of red light running and to crack down on drivers who disregard traffic signals.

November 13, 2012 The Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau will again begin collecting Christmas Cards for Veterans in 2012. All cards collected will be distributed to veterans in senior living facilities and nursing homes.
Last year, over 1800 cards were collected and distributed to area veterans in 13 different facilities around Owensboro, as well as the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. This is the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s sixth year collecting cards.

November 10, 2012 Yesterday was such a tough work day for me, haha! If you were listening to my Midday Show you know I was live from Allure Salon and Spa on Salem Drive in Owensboro. To say they pampered me is an understatement! My Friday was amazing!! It was my first time there and Zina, Jenny and all of the girls at the full-service salon were great! I LOVED it!
Today, Saturday, is their open house from 10:00am-2:00pm and you should definitely check it out!
November 8, 2012 East View Elementary School is hosting an astronomy night titled “Suns Meet the Stars” tomorrow night at 7:00. The event will take place on the hill on the school campus, 6104 Kentucky 405. Facilitated by science instructor Dennis Millay, a.k.a. Mr. D, and led by students in the East View Elementary School Student Technology and Leadership Program, East View families and friends are invited to take a guided walk across the stars, using iPads and astronomy applications to accomplish this.

November 4, 2012 Global Spectrum, the management company for the new Owensboro Convention Center, has announced the promotion of a current employee as well as the hiring of two new employees.
Laura Alexander has been promoted to the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Owensboro Convention Center. Laura was hired in March of 2012 as the Sales Manager for the Convention Center and was promoted to Director in September 2012. Laura will oversee all sales and marketing aspects of the convention center as well as focus on booking state and national conferences, conventions and events.
Daylight saving time will officially end at 2am this Sunday, November 4th. Make sure you set your clock BACK an hour before going to bed Saturday night. By the way for the record, so many people say daylight savings time which is incorrect; it is daylight saving time, singular... doesn't that drive you crazy??
