It seems that we never get requests for her music, when we mention her on Facebook we get a lot of negative comments and I hear people -men and women- gagging at the mention of her name. Jason Aldean debuted the video for his latest single, "1994" on Entertainment Tonight Wednesday night. It features cameos by some of country's biggest stars like Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Lade Antebellum, cast members from Nashville and Jake Owen. I was quite impressed with BK from Florida Georgia Line and his sprinkler dance moves!

Dolly Parton never minced words about it. She said that she will always love Whitney Houston's version of her hit "I Will Always Love You" because it sold millions of copies and made Dolly LOTS of money. I honestly never thought anyone would come close to Whitney's version of that song. I mean, holy cow! She sang the bloody hell out of it and it spent 14 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Singles Chart. So, imagine my surprise when my friend Anissa Jo Skaggs came across THIS video on the web. Some random girl walked up to a random karaoke machine inside a discount grocery store and laid the song out. WATCH!
It's been ten years since the Dixie Chicks' scandal rocked the country music world. It was March 10th of 2003 that Natalie Maines told a London audience that was she "ashamed that the President of the United States (George W. Bush) is from Texas." And since that time, it's been a mixed bag. There have been major successes and major disappointments for the trio. Among the successes, fivetrophies at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. Their comeback effort, Taking The Long Way, was named Best Album and Best Country Album. Their defiant anthem "Not Ready to Make Nice" was named Record of the Year and Song of the Year. And the group won the award for Best Country Vocal Duo or Group. Among the disappointments, the Accidents and Accusations Tour, which launched the same year. Ticket sales were strong in some parts of the country . . . a total bust in others. Some dates were moved from arenas to smaller venues. Some dates were canceled outright. While the industry had welcomed them back with open arms, many of their fans had not. For the Chicks, things just haven't been the same. And now, Natalie Maines, the group's lead singer, is branching out on her own.

Kristen Kelly, who is tearing up the chart with "He Loves to Make Me Cry," has just joined the cast of the 2013 Big O Music Fest and will appear with Jake Owen, Justin Moore, Love & Theft, Colt Ford, Lo Cash Cowboys and Jaclyn Graves in Owensboro. To get you excited about seeing Kristen live, I snagged this video from my friends at The Grand Ole Opry. Kristen has a killer voice and this, most definitely, is a killer song.

I am always amazed at what you can learn from Facebook and Twitter. And Saturday night I found out some cool news about Chris Young. I follow Chris on Facebook and over the weekend he posted this . . ."If you're in Nashville go see my step brother Carter play in the band Young Cardinals. Exit/In 9pm." Did you all know Chris had a step brother who was making his rounds on the Nashville music scene? I didn't either. But I did some research and came across a couple of videos from some recent performances. Check em out!

Miranda Lambert stirred up the country music scene when she announced that she had created an all-girl band, the Pistol Annies. Along with Ashley Monroe and Angelena Presley, the three feisty ladies released a fun, fierce, truly country album in 2011. This was one of my favorite albums that year and I still love it!
This past week, the ladies let it slip that the Pistol Annie's aren't going away any time soon.
