Fundraiser for Rollie Pike TONIGHT in Whitesville

Tonight is going to be an awesome night in Whitesville. We are going to be Raisin' 4 Rollie! Our buddy Rollie Pike is battling a rare disorder that attacks his vital organs and he is in desperate need of a kidney transplant . . . a transplant that WILL happen in June, thanks to the fact that a first cousin of his has just been confirmed a donor match! This is tremendous news for all of Rollie's family and friends and we are getting together to celebrate and raise money for this guy who would truly do anything for anyone.

It's finally here! The Daviess County Relay For Life is TONIGHT at Diamond Lake Campground and Resort. The event begins at 6pm and continues through 6am, Saturday the 18th. This is my fourth year as Relay Chairperson in Daviess County and this is our fourth consecutive year at Diamond Lake. And we are thrilled with this year's list of special guests and performers. Here at WBKR, we get asked all the time about Goldie's Survivor, our long-running talent contest at Goldie's. It was a blend of Survivor and American Idol and hundreds of folks each year battled to try and make the 10-week finals. The contest was basically reality television on stage and the show sold out virtually every week due to equal parts of talent and on-stage drama. We often get asked how our former champions are doing. Season Two champion Teresa Cook continues to make fans as Kizzy. Season Three champion Shannon Sellers lives in Nashville now. Season Five champion Rollie Pike later went on to win the Battle for The Big O and is with us each year for our St. Jude Radiothon. And, now, we're hearing from Season 6 champion Michael Woosley, who just released a new duet called "Watch Me." Check it out!

You can't haze people in college. But we can sure do it here at WBKR! And that's exactly what Jaclyn and I did to our brand new intern, Jordan Roos, a senior at Brescia University. His first day on the job was last Friday, which just so happened to be the first day of the International Bar-B-Q Festival here in Owensboro. Naturally, we invited Jordan along for a crash course in live, on-location broadcasting. Well, watch what happened when we passed Paula Martin's Paintopia booth. She was painting faces and we knew we had the perfect 6'4" blank canvas for her!

If you've ever tuned in for the final stretch of our annual St. Jude Radiothon you have more than likely heard our good friend Rollie Pike. Rollie, who way back in the day won our 5th season of Goldie's Survivor, has become a true friend to WBKR-FM. Personally speaking, Rollie is a great friend of mine and truly one of my favorite people on this planet. And that is no exaggeration. I simply cannot put into words what I think of Rollie and how much he means to me on a personal level. This guy is incredible. But I can say this . . . easily. Rollie is one the most kindhearted and giving people you will ever encounter. He never hesitates to lend a helping hand and is one those rare guys who will be there you when call, every time you call. Unfortunately, as fate would have it, Rollie's now in need of help himself.

What did you do tonight? Me?? I grabbed a cold, adult beverage, picked up the puppy and headed out in the back yard to watch a gorgeous, massive house being moved! Welcome to the country baby!

Ok, so maybe I went outside to avoid being scared when the power was turned off (which, the power never went off), but, I was still outside to catch some pics! They actually broke the house down into three pieces to transport it.

I can only imagine how much it cost just in energy and cable crews and law enforcement and transportation to move the sucker, but, it was pretty cool to watch!
