April 10, 2013 There were so many highlights at Owensboro's first-ever Color Blast 5K, it was really hard to count them all. We had the awesome impromptu Harlem Shake video in which 4,000 people threw packets of color up in the air. We had glorious weather and a record-breaking crowd join us at English Park for the biggest 5K in the history of Owensboro-Daviess County. We raised tons of money for six different agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities. And we had some terrific performances on the Showmobile stage. And one of those performances was delivered by Leland Isbill. Watch this kid play the harmonica! He will knock your socks off!

April 4, 2013 US Army Sgt. Michael Cable's body returned home Thursday morning. The Philpot 26 year old was killed while serving in Afghanistan last week.
Community members joined together this morning to show their support for Sgt. Cable and his family by lining up along the route from the airport to the funeral home.
I will never forget watching the processional of official vehicles, Patriot Riders and other organizations leading Sgt. Cable's body and family and close friends down Frederica Street. Three veterans stood with us in front of the station and seeing their reaction was very emotional. We tend to take for granted the freedoms what we have and the men and women who protect those freedoms. Sgt. Michael Cable and all that serve our great nation can never be thanked enough for their service.
