Last night after Super Bowl XLVI, NBC's The Voice returned for its second season.  And, delivering on the promise of a hilarious promo commercial that included Betty White, the season debut killed!  It was awesome.  Blake, Adam, Cee Lo, and Christina were in full form and so was the talent.  There's a reason this show is called The Voice.  And, as our American Idol and The Voice expert Steve Thompson explains, there were some big Voices on display!

A “Young Miranda Lambert” Auditions for “American Idol” [Video]

Thursday night, American Idol auditions rolled into Texas, the state that gave us our first Idol champ, Kelly ClarksonIdol has always had good luck in the Lone Star State, so producers figured they could wrangle up some more talent there this year.  And, last night, they snagged a rifle-packin', 4-wheeler-ridin' gal who reminded me very much of Miranda Lambert.  And they found Ramiro Garcia, a medical miracle who defies every odd imaginable to be able to lift his voice up in song.  As usual, our Idol expert, Steve Thompson, shared his thoughts about the episode and the contenders.

“American Idol” Hits Aspen and WBKR’s “Idol” Expert Chimes In [Video]

WBKR's American Idol expert, Steve Thompson, was hoping for a "Rocky Mountain high" last night as Idol auditions rolled into Aspen.  And, while we had the usual assortment of freaks and non-contenders, we did have some folks ready to step up to the plate and knock the socks off Steven Tyler, J. Lo and Randy Jackson.   In fact, several of them sang country!  We had everyone from a gal who butchered "Jolene," a bipolar girl who just may win the whole thing with her Carrie Underwood-like chops, a Lady Gaga wannabe and a guy who calls himself "The Magic Cyclops!"   So, did the contestants deliver?

Chad Reviews AMERICAN HORROR STORY: TV’s Scariest Show Ever!

Ryan Murphy, the guy who created Glee, now wants to make you pee!  And, with the help of his Glee co-worker and co-creative partner, Brad Falchuk, he is doing just that every Wednesday night with the FX original series American Horror Story!  When Dave Spencer and I were co-hosting our movie review show The Screening Room, we had pretty much given up on the horror movie genre.  Studios realized that for these types of movies to really make money, they had to be rated PG-13.  After all, the teenagers were the ones going to the cinema and buying the tickets and, more importantly, buying all those cheeseball special effects and watered-down scary-movie devices.  But, suddenly, the genre is alive and well on the small screen.  With HBO's True Blood and AMC's The Walking Dead, horror has a new home on the tube.  And horror's newest home of all, American Horror Story's MURDER HOUSE, is the most terrifying of them all!

How I Survived Netflix (No, I Won’t Be Going Back!)

Ah Netflix, how I've loved it and I've hated it over the last seven years.  The once popular "you rent DVDs, we ship them to your home" service has taken a brutal beating over recent membership fee increases and then today, their stock price dropped due to continuing customer dissatisfaction.
