Caterpillar Turning Into a Butterfly

Over the last couple of weeks we have been keeping an eye on our little friend out back of the radio station. We noticed a caterpillar turning itself into a butterfly. Today is the day that it came out of it's little cocoon. Metamorphosis is complete.

I've never in my life seen this happen and it's fascinating. It reminds me of the final scene in A Bug's Life when that enormous caterpillar sprouted those little tiny wings... The wings on this beast are a little bigger.

So after this video was shot the butterfly crawled up to the top of it's little tower and now has his wings spread and is getting ready to take off!
