Each year, the 4th grade class at Meadowlands Elementary School in Daviess County studies other cultures and learns that the United States is actually in the minority when it comes to one aspect of nutrition and what we eat to get it.  See, 80% of the people in the world actually eat bugs and they do it because they're high in protein and, yes, good for you!  So, to bring the chapter to a fitting close, the kids are invited (with parental consent, of course) to eat bugs.  And, this year, Brett and I decided to join them!

Here we are with Mrs. Howard, who explains the reading program and the fun Meadowlands tradition that goes along with it.

And, now, here we go.  Brett and I decided that we'd suit up and try some bugs too.  We even eat live ones!

I must say . . . they weren't bad.  The grasshoppers and crickets in my backyard better be careful this summer!
