The Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau will again begin collecting Christmas Cards for Veterans in 2012. All cards collected will be distributed to veterans in senior living facilities and nursing homes.

Last year, over 1800 cards were collected and distributed to area veterans in 13 different facilities around Owensboro, as well as the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. This is the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s sixth year collecting cards.

School, civic, and church groups are encouraged to collect Christmas cards. Cards can be dropped off at the Convention & Visitors Bureau office at 215 E. 2nd Street during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Cards should be signed by group members or by individual names. The envelopes should be addressed to “Dear Service Member”, “Honored Veteran”, or “American Hero”, as each group prefers.

Karen Miller, Executive Director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, said, “This is a great opportunity for the community to send Christmas cheer to our Veterans and remember them at this time of year.”

The collection will last until December 14th. For additional information, please contact the Convention & Visitors Bureau at 270-926-1100.
