I can't begin to describe the happiness I felt when I saw this on Facebook. Recently, Cinema 33 in Hartford (previously the Mall Cinema) reopened with much-needed renovations and one classic deal they are bringing back, gather up those bottle caps and get ready for the RC Matinee!

Almost every summer growing up, the RC Matinee was a must-see. My parents would save all our bottle caps and I would put 6 in a plastic bag and those caps were the currency for admission. I can't remember every movie I saw, but I know a lot of them were old Disney movies, like 'Herbie the Love Bug' or 'The $1,000,000 Duck". One of the last ones I saw was the live-action version of 'Lil' Abner', which as I recall was hilarious, a little weird, and very long.

This time around, the RC Matinee will play every Thursday this month. Admission is 8 RC product bottle caps, bottles can be purchased at IGA, which is conveniently located right next door to the theater or can be purchased at Walmart. 5:00pm is show time and whatever movies Cinema 33 has on slate is what they will show. Prizes will be given away every week!
