City Commission Approves Tax Increase

To save Hillcrest Golf course in Owensboro, a tax increase was proposed for Owensboro.  The proposal has been approved and Mayor Payne says the increase will run about $30 per year for those who make $50,000 per year.

The increase will be helping to fund Hillcrest Golf Course and along with helping the links, the International Bluegrass Music Museum's construction costs will be benefiting from it as well.

The second reading of the proposal was Thursday afternoon at city hall.  While Owensboro Chamber of Commerce officials asked the commission to drop the proposal the commission approved the increase.
