CMA Vocal Group of the Year – Who Should I Vote For?
My voting deadline is Monday, October 28. Your deadline to tell me who to vote for is Friday, the 25th. Today we turn to the nominees for Vocal Group of the Year.
ELI YOUNG BAND
Chris Thompson, Mike Eli, James Young and Jon Jones make up the Eli Young Band. "Crazy Girl" was their first hit from the album, Life at Best, which also included the hits, "Even If It Breaks Your Heart". It got them a nomination last year in this same category. Their next album is due next year and the first release from it, "Drunk Last Night", is climbing the WBKR chart now.
LADY ANTEBELLUM
(L-R) Dave Haywood, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley have six consecutive Vocal Group nominations and have won three times. Their latest album, Golden, reflects the band's versatility with each member taking lead vocals. Recently postponing their tour until 2014, the new mom and her band-mates are optimistic they will take home the honors again.
LITTLE BIG TOWN
Last year their hit, Pontoon, helped Little Big Town snag the Vocal Group award as well as Single of the Year. Now, (L-R) Jimi Westbrook, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild and Phillip Sweet have TV hosting (CMA's Night to Rock) and an Emmy (Theme for Good Afternoon America) behind them they are poised for their second win in a row.
THE BAND PERRY
New Artist of the year two years ago, Neil, Kimberly and Reid Perry have their fourth straight Vocal Group nomination. Neil and Reid are outstanding musicians who play on their own recordings. With an engagement ring from her boyfriend J.P. Arencibia of the Toronto Blue Jays, Kimberly and her siblings are ready to embark on an overseas tour in 2014.
ZAC BROWN BAND
This year marks Zac Brown Band's 13th nomination but have only won once as New Artist in 2010. They wrote all their own songs play on their on recordings and own their own label. It could be a ZBB year.
Now, please vote for Vocal Group of the year.
