If you live in Owensboro and western Kentucky, you are likely very familiar with the story of Colonel Charles E. Shelton.  The Daviess County native is immortalized downtown on the riverfront with an impressive freedom memorial that recounts the fact that he is the last P.O.W. of the Vietnam War.  And now, there's a stirring video tribute and retelling of his harrowing and heroic story.

This video tribute to Colonel Shelton was published on YouTube a year ago, but I just happened to catch it on my Facebook feed a couple of days ago.  Shelton has many relatives here in the area and they continue to keep his memory alive.

Shelton, an officer in the Air Force, was shot down in Laos on April, 29th, 1965 . . . his 33rd birthday.   He was classified as a prisoner of war until 1994.  Here's his incredible story.
