In a press conference held at the pool Tuesday evening, Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson announced Cravens Pool, which in danger of shutting down, will be open this summer.

Mayor Watson said money had been moved around in the budget to keep the pool open.

Mayor Watson said $46,000 was cut out of the budget in "other areas" to keep the pool open. Over 800 citizens signed a petition and several protested last week at city hall. The money cut from the budget will affect road and sidewalk repairs, and the arts. By Memorial Day weekend, Cravens Pool will be ready to go.
