Back in July, I was chatting with a deputy sheriff during a Dairy Queen road show over on New Hartford Road. And he told me about a call the department got one time about an unwelcome reptile lurking in the ditch nearby.

Apparently someone had gotten tired of taking care of their pet python and dumped it. That's my first clue that they shouldn't have had one in the first place, BUT that's a story for another day.

Anyway, the sheriff's department was called after it was spotted and they rounded the snake up and that was that.

Now, fast forward to the last oh...say, 36 hours.

Skaggs Creek is a stream near Barren River Lake. In college, we used to go to Barren River Lake quite a bit. And I'm familiar with the creek.

AND...so is a three-foot long alligator that Kentucky Fish and Wildlife can't seem to apprehend.

Apparently, it's a pet that someone no longer wanted.

People! Quit purchasing large reptiles as pets that you can't take care of.

Come on!

Anyway, despite the fact that it's been determined that he doesn't seem to pose any threat, you still want to try to remove an alligator from a creek where folks like to fish.

Talk about the Catch of the Day!
