Darius Rucker Honored For His Work With St. Jude At Country Cares Conference [VIDEO]
While Chad and I were in St. Jude one of the big highlights was the Song Writer's Reception. Darius Rucker was honored by Alabama's Randy Owen for his work with St. Jude.
Darius was presented with the "Angels Among Us" award Saturday evening, at the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Conference in Memphis, TN.
He spoke on his first time visiting the hospital a few years ago with his friends Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley. He said he was so moved by the doctors, staff, and the patients who were sick but still happy!
He recalled being told patients and their families never receive a bill while their at St. Jude and just how much it costs on a daily basis to keep the hospital up and running.
That visit sparked him to start the annual Darius & Friends benefit that is held yearly in Nashville the week of the CMA Music Fest. Since the benefit began he has raised more that one million dollars for St. Jude.
