Tuesday afternoon, I got to broadcast live backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. Sometimes there are interviews scheduled and sometimes not.

And Tuesday was a day when nothing was lined up due to performers' schedules. You see, not every artist in a given Opry lineup for a given evening arrives at the same time...or even before the show begins.

Chris Young was Tuesday night's final act. I'm guessing he didn't have to be there by 7:00.

But while I was chatting with our great friend April Hyde, the Grand Ole Opry's advertising and promotions manager, newcomer Michael Ray walked by the door.

So I went out and introduced myself to the guy who will most likely have the #1 song in the nation on next week's Country Airplay chart with "Kiss You in the Morning."

And Michael was great. He asked me what room we were in and I followed him to it.

His career is off and running and in the interview he gave us a great story about a very special musical instrument:
