The best songs enable the listener to visualize what he or she is hearing. And one of the most evocative songs I've ever heard is Kacey Musgraves' "Merry-Go'Round," which she also wrote.

It's about life in a small dead-end town and those folks who put themselves in a  position that makes it difficult, if not impossible, to leave. I have no idea in what time of year the song is set, but I always picture a gray winter.

Kacey's attention to detail and her use of passages from familiar nursery rhymes only enhances a great mini-movie set to music.
