As Daviess County Sheriff Keith Cain says, "You can't make this stuff up."  According to the department's official Facebook page, "This morning at approximately 3:00 AM deputies were dispatched to a Hazard in the Roadway Complaint in the 7200 Block of Windy Hill Road."  The caller thought there was a cow blocking the roadway.  Except, it wasn't a cow at all.  It was a rhinoceros.  And, no.  We're not kidding.

According to Sheriff Cain, "The caller advised the dispatcher that they had to slam on their brakes after encountering what was thought to be a cow in the roadway. Caller then advised the dispatcher that it was a rhino."  I'm sorry.  WHAT??????

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a rhino statue made of metal halfway on the roadway. "Deputies were able to push the beast to the side of the road and are now trying to locate its owner."

We never thought we'd be asking this question here in Owensboro, Kentucky . . . but does anyone know the owner of this rhino?  As Sheriff Cain says, "We are certain that it didn’t walk there by itself and must have been moved there."  If you have information, you are asked to call the Daviess County Sheriff's Department at 270-685-8444.
