On these pages, we have detailed the crossover to country music of a hard rock band's lead singer and an Academy Award winning actress. But this just might take the cake.

Sources at Big Machine records--the home of Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, Trisha Yearwood, and others--have confirmed that Lindsey Lohan is in negotiations to record a country album. Talk about things that make you go hmmm. Well, I'm of two minds on this recent development. First, in addition to country music being rife with great talent and great personalities, it is also a genre loaded with terrific role models. And that isn't  a label one could attach to Lindsey Lohan, especially now and maybe ever. On the other hand, I don't believe Ms. Lohan is an inherently BAD person. It seems that everything she has done, she's done to herself largely because of her well-documented struggles with addiction. Maybe she sees this direction as a way of cleaning up her act. And I wish her well in that endeavor. I really do. I guess time will tell if "Lindsey Lohan, Country Singer" is a legitimate enterprise or just a sad gimmick.
