Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Oversee planning and scheduling of activities for Vectren’s fleet technicians and contractors. Conduct analysis and make recommendations in support of the execution of fleet’s maintenance strategy. Ensure integrity of data in the asset management database and ensure paperless shop is productively leveraged by fleet mechanics. Document work and ensure fleet garage policies and procedures are followed. Ensure work orders are completed by the appropriate resource based on the total cost, urgency, and other factors. Ensure customer service levels are maintained and provide ongoing communications to customers.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for coordinating, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance conducted by Company’s fleet garage and contractors. Assess the technicians and contractors’ scheduling adherence and productivity. Work with Supply Chain to coordinate and develop vendors for all fleet parts and material purchases, within fleet policies and procedures, while maintaining high quality and low cost. Coordinate fleet maintenance with internal customers to minimize work disruption. Ensure fleet documentation is properly recorded and maintained. Enter material and part requisitions, and ensure the associated costs are posted to the correct work order. Maintain Garage 5S and continuous improvement environment. Track and provide all required environmental reports. All other projects and tasks as assigned by the Facilities and Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

Required:

Associates Degree

Preferred:

Bachelors Degree

Experience

Required:

2 – 4 years of fleet, or related, work planning and analysis experience.

Preferred:

4+ years of commercial fleet asset management experience.

Functional/Technical Competency Requirements

Required:

Ability to accomplish assigned job functions with limited supervision. Keen organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple work activities simultaneously. Time management skills. Demonstrate good judgment in planning, prioritizing and decision making. Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate clear concise plans to workers. Must possess a bias for action and a passion for customer service. Effective user of software tools to assess data, plan work, track results, determine unit costs and create analysis reporting.

Preferred:

Proven ability to take initiative and demonstrate confidence. Skills in budget evaluation and fiscal management. Experience with implementing lean continuous improvement in a fleet garage setting. Experience with root cause analysis techniques to determine issues impacting productivity and service levels.
