To say that Owensboro's First Christian Church has its share of fans is an enormous understatement. The city's oldest church was destroyed by fire a month ago, leaving many without a church home and many more still, lamenting the loss of one of the community's most beautiful structures.

As is always the case, we have extraordinary citizens of Owensboro who have decided to come together and do whatever they can for First Christian Church.

Nearly all of the businesses in downtown Owensboro will be giving a portion of Saturday's proceeds to the church.

The donations will help keep the First Christian Church's ministries and services to the community up and running while its members are temporarily without their house of worship.

Benefit flyers will appear in the windows of businesses between 2nd and 9th streets in downtown Owensboro this Saturday.

Patronize those locations and you will be joining generous merchants of this city in helping an historic old church and its members maintain its footing in ministry and service to Owensboro.
