In a John Calipari world, being offered a walk-on spot with the Cats is rare, but one of the state's most talented seniors, Taveion Hollingsworth, walked away from that opportunity instead to sign up for a scholarship with WKU.

The 6-2 guard helped lead Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to their first ever state title in the school's hometown of Lexington earlier this year. Here's a highlight reel of the state championship game.

WKU currently has only one native Kentuckian on the squad, that's junior Justin Johnson who played at Sheldon Clark and Perry County Central. The team, however, is led by Kentuckian and new head coach Rick Stansbury, whose Toppers open up their regular season at Diddle Arena this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. versus Alabama State.
