Fifteen years ago, Toby Keith was at Ellis Park in Henderson to watch his horse Cactus Ridge ultimately win the Ellis Park juvenile.

Then, according to the Henderson Gleaner, the spirit of the moment changed as Keith tried to enter the lounge.

Because of his extremely casual attire (commonplace and welcome in 2018), he was denied entry.

Ellis Park became aware of the 2003 incident after hearing Toby recount it in an interview on the Horse Racing Network.

Now, the park is going all out to get Keith to return to the "Pea Patch."

They issued an open letter admitting their inability to address a situation that happened so long ago under different management and have invited him back to a place they call "Toby Keith country" where jeans are standard and soybeans grow in the infield.

They've asked for Toby to make Ellis Park part of this 2019 Should've Been a Cowboy XXVI Tour.

Ellis Park also mentioned that the Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks (Ford F-Series sponsors the tour) are manufactured just up the road in Louisville.

So, come on Owensboro, Henderson, Evansville, Madisonville and everyone else in the tri-state!

Let's help Ellis Park BRING TOBY BACK!
