In a world where music is life for people like me, I have a decision to make. I've been going the gym a lot lately, and I must have my music. Unfortunately, one of my portable players has met an untimely end. The other one works like a charm.

I think the song title says it all:

What you are looking at is an old school, mp3 flash player. I received this player for Christmas I'd say at least ten years ago. So, how does it work? Well, I would connect the player to my computer with a cable, a cable which I no longer have, and I would take mp3s out of my pre-iTunes library and load it up. I can't remember what the storage capacity is, but at the moment, my player holds a whopping 208 songs. And since I no longer have the connection cable, what music is on it will never be deleted, and I can't add anything to it. That's okay with me.

So what happened to my iPod Nano? I'm really not sure. I've had for over seven years and I never had a problem with it until earlier this year. Long story short, the LED screen broke or it quit working. However, the music would still play. My quick fix is to use my iPhone for music, which I occasionally will take to the gym, but it's a little bulky. And my question? Are iPods still popular? Yes, they got sleeker and maybe a little smaller, but I see more people using their phones for music rather than the player. I'm not even sure there's a competitive market for digital music players anymore. If you have wi-fi access and you have various music service apps, you don't even need a library.

Consider this as my "Flash" back Friday submission. I have a Sony DiscMan too! Did I mention I have a birthday coming up?
