Evansville Icemen Player of the Week: Mark Cody

His seventh pro season overall and his third with the IceMen as one of the original Evansville players from the launching of the AA era in 2010. Last season, in 2011-12, endured a series of nagging injuries which limited him to 30-games. Registered 5-points, 4-goals, 1-assist with 1-GWG, 25-SOG and 119-PIM. Ranked third on the club in the latter department. Last season was at backend of the IceMen’s fifth fastest 2-goals in a single game on 2/22/12 when he followed Todd Robinson’s strike stoked at 8:07 of the second period with his own snipe at 8:40 of the same stanza to cap an Evansville 2-goal thunderbolt in :33 in a 5-2 triumph over Arizona at the Ford Center. In addition, on 2/11/12, he amassed 27-PIM, representing the second most in one game for an Evansville player in his team’s 4-1 win at Tulsa. His initial season with the IceMen in 2010-11 was, perhaps, his best of his pro career. One of only 2-players to play in all 66-games, led the team in PIM with 161 while contributing career-bests of 6-goals, 11-assists, 17-points. In 2010-11 captured both the IceMen Team “Mr. Hustle” Award as well as the Community Service Award. Originally arrived in Evansville as one of 9 Muskegon players signed by the IceMen following the former team’s 2009-10 IHL Regular Season Huber Trophy Championship. Pro career totals: 179-games; 14-goals; 20-assists; 34-points; 496-PIM.
